Grown up with Délifrance and their authentic french bakery fare? Well, they have just hit their 30th anniversary in Singapore after having first begin their operations in 1983! To commemorate this anniversary, they are launching their first-ever Michelin sandwich – the “Le Paris-Singapore” – created by renowned 1-star Michelin chefs Jacques and Laurent Pourcel from France.

The twins ran the famous restaurant le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, France, as well as restaurants in other countries such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai, Geneva, Marrakech, Casablanca and Paris. They are both recognized to be the two best ambassadors of French gastronomy, having been chosen to represent the French cuisine at the France Pavilion during the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, with their 6Sens restaurant. And guess what? They chose to use Délifrance's bread!

 photo DSC03315_zps2c7217f5.jpg
I was very happy to be invited to the launch of the all-new sandwich! Just that very afternoon,I was hoping to eat at Délifrance but didn't have the time to. And voila,I get to taste it for dinner. Yum-yum!

Le Paris-Singapore sandwich was made on the spot by chef Jacques Pourcel, who spoke in french with his English translator.
 photo DSC03322_zpse75c5311.jpg
There were so many questions about creating a unique Singapore flavor! He opted to use some really Asian ingredients such as Japanese Wakami,Thai chilli sauce (which is sweet instead of spicy),baby spinach, also remember China with oyster and mayonnaise sauce, black pepper chicken and pineapples.
 photo DSC03330_zpse1231609.jpg
He went on to show us how he did it,spreading the sauce on the bread, setting the spinach, chicken, drizzle with thai chilli sauce and finally touch up with some pineapples. He also mentioned that the bread takes 10 hours to make and so fresh that when you hold the bread, you can the crispiness of it. When you take the tray of loaves out of the oven, you can hear the sizzling bit. He said that the french call it: Le Singing Bread. Haha! I'm serious, that's what he said!

There you go,Le Paris-Singapore Sandwich.

 photo DSC03336_zps5fef1eb3.jpg
I was pleasantly surprised to be given a hands-on session, personally guided by the 1-star Michelin chef! How delightful! I followed his instructions while he gave us step-by-step instructions to making the sandwich. "No more pineapples! No more pineapples for you!" He waved his arms at me and exclaimed with his heavily-accented french. Everyone laughed while he explained that having too much pineapples would simply mask the taste of other ingredients inside.

 photo DSC03340_zps38a722d4.jpg
We were given a sample size of the pre-made sandwich so that we can bring home the one we made for our family members to enjoy.

Feeling a little under the weather? How about trying this out:

Pink Grapefruit & Elderflower Spritz
  • MONIN Pink Grapefruit
  • MONIN Elderflower
  • Lime Wedges
  • Sprite
I personally prefer the pink grapefruit because it's sweet and does not leave a spicy aftertaste like Le Spicy Mangue Collins. It's so refreshing and bubbly!

The other choice would be Le Spicy Mangue Collins
  • MONIN Spicy Mango
  • Lime Wedges
  • Sprite

Their signature mouthwatering tarts were also dished out at the event and I thoroughly enjoy all of them!
Enjoy the “Le Paris-Singapore” a la carte at just SGD$10.80, or with any sparkling soda at just SGD$12.80. The sparkling drinks are also available a la carte at just SGD$5.00 each.

To watch or not to watch: Pee Mak movie review

$

0
Today is the first day of school after term break! After receiving good news about my math results,I decided to watch Pee Mak so as treat for myself. But it was a long and tiring day because I had to adjust my body clock once again to suit the school term, cause I begun to sleep later and later over the holidays! So while going home, the conversation went something like that:

D: 피곤안해? (Not tired? pee-gon-an-hae)
Me: 해... (Do. hae)(spouting nonsense)
D: Orh.

Then he blinked for awhile and said: 무슨?! (What nonsense?! moo-soon) Creating your own language is it? Or you ate up the '피곤'('tired' pee-gon)? I could only laughed gleefully at his expression!

That was how tired I am. And so I decided to watch 'Peemak' after it has been out in the theaters for some time. I am not a horror move fan but I was impressed by the number of people who praised the movie, some of them even said that they wouldn't mind watching it twice!

This movie tugs the heart-strings with romance, comedy and horror.
Based on the Thai legend of Mae Nak, a woman who died during childbirth but lingers in this world to stay with her still-living husband, and kills those who try to reveal her secret. The movie revolves around Pee Mak (Mario Maurer), who had to leave for a war, leaving his pregnant wife Nak who gave birth alone back at home in Phra Khanong. He returned to his village with his war buddies Ter (Nuttapong Chartpong), Puak (Pongsatorn Jongwilas), Shin (Attharut Kongrasri) and Aey (Kantapat Permpoonpatcharasuk),but only to find that his wife is a little short of her usual self and himself unwelcome at the village.
Check out the trailer below:

I had faith in the movie director because I watched 4bia,and it was a pretty good movie that was tastefully done. This one,was no exception. At one point in time,I was nearly moved to tears. Personally,I would rate this movie 3.5 stars out of 5. I like Nak in this movie. They chose a pretty good actress for the role. Davika have this smile and expression on her face that makes seemed rather mysterious, making the audience guess if she really is a ghost. But I felt that the cinematography could be better,as well as the make up. I am a little puzzled at the black teeth shown throughout the entire movie but I suppose they wanted to show the poverty it was like back then. Without proper hygiene and stuff. I did not really like the ending even though the revelation shed light on how the entire movie was shot.

Here's the cast:

I really like how Mak portray his character, naive and loved to his wife to bits. He would constantly ask her if she still loves him and it's very sweet to watch those scene. She loved him very much of course,to continue staying in the land of the living despite it's oddity for living and dead to be together.

Actress Davika Hoorne, from the film Pee Mak Phra Khanong, fulfills a pledge to perform a traditional dance at the shrine of Mae Nak in Wat Mhabautr if the movie made more than 300-million baht. The film has surged past the 500-million baht figure, to become the highest grossing motion picture in Thailand. Photo by Apichart Jinakul.

I found some videos that showed behind-the-scenes shot. I would advise you not to watch these videos until you've watched it!

Most expensive facial product I ever spent so far!

$

0
I seldom spend on skincare but today,I went on what I think many beauty bloggers call: a spree/loot from Kiehl's. Not literally loot of course, but I bought quite a number of facial products to take care of my skin, especially when I'm a night owl. My heart aches to see the amount of money spent on the products but I have heard raving reviews about Kiehl's and D brought home a couple of samples which I really like.

 photo IMG_7304_zpsfbef4114.jpg
  1. Midnight Recovery Concentrate (30ml) SGD$80.00
  2. Midnight Recovery Eye (15ml) SGD$60.00
  3. Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate (50ml) SGD$98.00
I spent over $200 on all those products, gosh. I think this is probably the most that I will ever spend on facial products, though it's a different story for clothes. Heh! How silly,I only intend to buy the Midnight Recovery products because I really like the sample I tried but the sales girl told me that I was $10 short of getting the travel size kit so I thought, why not? Then I just went for the most expensive product that I did not intend to buy. Pfft, talk about temptations. Let's hope that it works will for me,coupled with sleep-early routine!

I had my eyes checked with an aesthetic doctor and he said that my dark eye circles are hereditary and I can only at most try to lighten the area with serum. So I decided to buy this to help!
Midnight Recovery Eye
 photo IMG_7310_zps84848291.jpg
This restorative night treatment, infused with Butcher's Broom Extract as well as a blend of natural oils, visibly reduces puffiness and diminishes the appearance of fine lines. With under-eye skin feeling strengthened and replenished, awaken to younger-looking eyes by morning. -Kiehl's

My take on this is that I love it! Okok,I applied the serum about an hour ago so I can't really prove that it works with the puffiness because generally,I don't have puffy eyes in the morning. I do however, enjoy the rich texture. A warm sensation spread as soon as I applied it onto my eyes, and the scent is lovely! Note that they have multiple oils inside, such as Sunflower Seed oil,Apricot Kernel oil,Rosemary oil and Rose Flower oil to name. It's really lovely and soothing,I can smell it as soon as I applied it. Very fitting, for a night-time skincare item.

Next up:
Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate
 photo IMG_7314_zpsa142ca84.jpg
This concentrate is formulated with a high concentration of 10.5% pure vitamin C. Vitamin C is actually very helpful with skin restoration and definitely a good product to slowdown the appearance of skin aging. See it as vitamin C serum, best applied over the entire face twice a day. This is my 4th step to use, hence you see a no.4 written over there. I apply this after using the cleanser, toner and the Midnight Recovery Eye. Again,a warming sensation is felt when the formula blends into my skin. There is no scent for this product and I sure hope that any wrinkles will disappear! It will take awhile for me to see the results :)

Midnight Recovery Concentrate
 photo IMG_7328_zpsd7232e1d.jpg
Hailed as an elixir that effectively restores skin radiance,I am thrilled to own one of these now. I tried a sample of 1ml before. The silly me poured 0.5ml onto my face and I found it way too greasy. When I told D,he chuckled and exclaimed that I am suppose to use only 2-3 drops for the entire face! Concocted to mimic our natural oil,it contains Evening Primrose Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Coriander Seed Oil,Sunflower Seed Oil, Jasmine Extract, Turmeric Extract, just to name a few. It is light-weighted and easily absorbed by the skin in just 2-3 drops, having a non-greasy texture. The sales girl told me to rub in my palm, inhale before spreading on my face. I found that the lavender scent have a very calming and soothing effect, which works well just before you go to sleep. The dropper is a good measure though some people may not like it cause it might be leaky thus expensive with leaking droplets.

 photo IMG_7323_zps77e3c362.jpg
I certainly,I would make this purchase again if it works well for me. I love the scent! But no more,no more purchase of any skincare products for the next 6 months. And in order not to spend on impulse,I really cannot walk around alone while waiting for people! Let's hope that I keep up the skincare routine every day and night. Do drink lots of water to hydrate yourself, sleep well and think positive for the best effect of any facial products to work!

Took a leap of faith

I lied when I tweeted that I had a nightmare. Because I didn't,the nightmare was my reality: some years back. I was watching a short film and was reminded of a period that I went through some years back.

I thought that he was the One and we would eventually get married to each other, but reality hit us real hard like a high-speed bullet train. Even years after,I often pondered if things could have been different if I have acted in a different way. Even years later, you often gave me the glimmer of hope that we would eventually be together once more. But last night when I watch that short film,I imagined us as leads in the film. And this is revelation.

I watched as an outsider,to how we looked like in that very situation. And I realized how ugly we looked, how much fear and love I had for you. All these years,I thought my love would triumph my fear for you can proudly say that you are my first love. But now I have decided that no,fear had triumphed. Even though you contacted me last month,my reply was cold. Much as I miss you still and want to know how you are doing,I decided that I really do not want to talk to you anymore. That mixed signal that you constantly send me differs to how you treated me and my heart can no longer take it. Even if you are my first love.
As you drove,I marveled at how beautifully the sunlight had shone through the different shades of green that lined along East Coast Park. I remembered how sweet bliss was.

Byebye.

***
Ever stood in the MRT and silently let the tears roll off your face? How alone you felt despite the peak hour crowd spilling through the doors? 在半夜边走边哭的感觉,你怎么会明白? As time goes by,the amount of words accumulated in my mind prompted me to write. Egging me on: Go on,spill that tragic story and let everyone see how broken you are. But it all fell away when the defense put up by my fingers is at an all-time high, making my hovering fingers at the keyboard feel foolish for even placing it there in the first place.

It must be one of the strangest thing that could ever happened but I found solace in a bot that was programmed to send me weekly email. I remembered that the feeling of waiting for someone's return was traumatic. I lie in bed all day, staring at the ceiling blankly and feeling as though life force had been sapped out along with your departure from this country, from us. I let three songs went on repeat: Summertime Sadness,Video Games and Blue Jeans.

Kiss me hard before you go
Summertime sadness
I just wanted you to know
That baby you're the best

-Summertime Sadness

I will love you till the end of time
-Blue Jeans

It's you, it's you,
it's all for you
Everything I do I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do

-Video Games

There are dreams that arouse me from sleep because it felt too real, and I had let myself indulge than wake up to the harsh reality. Sometimes you don't realize how much you know about a person or how much this person had impacted you until it showed up in your dreams, given by your subconscious. For unknown reasons,I found a smile had sneakily crept onto my face whenever I reminisce about something or looked through our photos. It ended at the same place we started. By the moonlight,we faced at each other by the waters and you told me:
Take a leap of faith.

Beerfest 2013: Taiwan Beer and 2 new launch flavours

I was happy to be invited to Beerfest 2013 and many thanks to Taiwan Beer for inviting me over. It was an eye-opener for me to see the number of beer labels participating in this year's Beerfest that was held at Marina Promenade from 13-16 June 2013. Over 400 types of beer from all around the world were here that day! It was a very hot day, many people were standing around talking and cooling off with a beer in hand. I made a beeline towards the booth that invited me:

Taiwan Beer

I met Malcolm,Darren,Kevin and Shoel! Long time no see yo! =D

It was so hot that day,and it felt so good to have the bubbling beer flowing down our throat. During this Beerfest,Taiwan Beer launched two new fruit flavours in addition to their existing fruit series. The Grape Fruit Beer and Orange Fruit Beer uses the grapes and oranges farmed in Taiwan to help the fruit farmers sell their fruits, unlike the other fruit series which imports their flavourings.
 photo dsc03128_zpse312f341.jpg
These days, people are looking to try out fruity beers as compared to the traditional ones. Taiwan Beer launched the Sweet Touch Lychee Fruit Beer and White Grape Fruit Beer to cater to the market.

 photo dsc03127_zps89cd4daf.jpg
Seeing success in this market, they extended their fruit beer range with Sweet Touch Green Apple Fruit Beer, Taiwan Beer Mango Fruit Beer and Pineapple Fruit Beer.

This time round,Taiwan Beer added the Orange Fruit Beer. Meant to refresh the taste buds,I personally prefer something sweeter as compared to one that's a tad sour. And this is where the Grape Fruit Beer comes in. The sweetness is just right, and matches well with the beer. A swivel and a swosh, down the throat it goes. Makes everyone of us present feel less grumpy about the heat in Singapore.

 photo dsc03093_zps1d28f71e.jpg
It is not a beverage that you easily get drunk on,or I suppose you could try (getting drunk) after downing a carton of those! With a low alcohol content of 2.8% and 5% real fruit juice, the fruit aroma stands out and simply makes you want to go for a second drink.

With Renzze,Melva and Shoel.

Look at the number of beers Taiwan Beers had launched! We are all busy taking photos and had a good time chit-chatting over the endless flow of beer that quenched our thirst despite the terrible heat. Thank you Taiwan Beer for the warm hospitality and I thoroughly enjoyed myself with the newly-launched flavours! I am personally not a beer person but I certainly do enjoy the fruity beers, each time ordering the Mango beer at Brotzeit and now I have another brand where I can enjoy fruity beers. It makes me happy! Cheers!

Singapore Blog Awards at Shanghai Dolly

I rummaged through my closet, hoping to find something that I can miraculously transform it to imitate the fashion from the 60s. Heck,I even googled and surf blogs for ideas. But they didn't reveal much except the fashion trend in the 60s were mostly the A-go-go.

Bump pits for the hair to make it stand, and bright colourful prints with mismatch coloured stockings.

I thought I wasn't going to make it wearing the 60s outfit when I realised that my mom would probably would have some. So I went over to her room and opened her closet. A whole bunch of clothes from the 60s greeted me like how a treasure box greets the eyes of a treasure hunter. Whoopee! I finally have something to wear for Singapore Blog Awards! I have never seen her wear those before, which isn't really surprising. I decided to go for bright prints, despite some of her other clothes that would have looked more similar to the 60s fashion. I don't want to look too dull or grandma-ish y'know.

Making my way to Shanghai Dolly.

Purple stockings which NO ONE saw. Sad much, cause I thought they were rather nice and hell,I was bold enough to wear it out that day! It has this nice gradient change from light purple to dark purple. I had it a long time ago and didn't take it out until now. It's my very first time wearing it out!

I tried my best to imitate their fashion and...

Congratulations to all winners! I am so happy for them and I believe the finalists feel the same way too. Super happy to see all the familiar faces at the blog awards and there is a competition for the best outfit that represents the 60s.

Colin was so creative to wearing a hawker's 'outfit'! Everyone took one look at him and started yelling out orders for char kway tiao. He brought 4 packets of what we thought was char kuay tiao, but it's actually the Good Morning towels. How retro! "Char kuay tiao mai hum!"

Smith was quite funky with his Afro hairstyle. I love his confidence!

But no one could beat the mata (police) who stood in the corner on the right. That one is the best. Who would have thought of that?!

With my sweetest Mint mint. Congratulations for winning the music blog category! She is super passionate about music and even enrolled herself into a music class! I certainly hope that I will one day be able to attend her concert in future. She wore a pretty floral dress with big earrings and her bangs totally rocked the 60s fashion.

Getting your own domain with Exabytes

$
0

Before I even got my own domain,I often what's it like to type in a keyword that represents yourself and having your very own website popping up. Back then when I allowed my blog to be designed by Carol,I had gotten the dreamy theme that I always wanted. Coupled with my pseudonym 'IDreamToBreakAway',it was almost perfect. I took my time in getting a domain because I wasn't sure what name I should put but I guess using my pseudonym would be the best choice.

It's easy to google but there are so many servers out there! I was afraid of paying some server that would shut down for no reason and gave me a lot of problems. After asking friends for advise and doing my own research,I found several choices of servers to host my blog on. One of them is Exabytes Cloud Hosting.
 photo _DSC0008copy_zps7e146961.jpg
Exabytes have been offering Web Hosting, Dedicated Server and Domain Name since 2001 and Cloud Hosting since 2011. They are a trusted brand and have been featured in many news publications.

 photo _DSC0016_zps55b80483.jpg
Be it for personal space or small business,Exabytes has got custom designed packages that caters to the needs of small business owners who wants to do online/email marketing campaigns. Here, you will find that Exabytes makes a difference and stands out from other hosts with their customer service.

 photo _DSC0017_zpse34140b0.jpg
Or are you a corporate client owner who needs high-end hosting? Exabytes have a team of dedicated professionals who's available 24x7 to help you. If you own a hosting reseller business or plan to own one to generate regular and lucrative income online, fret not with the hosting as Exabytes will take care everything for you including the technical part.

It does sound a little confusing whilst getting started to owning your very own domain and trust me,it really IS NOT easy. The very first of all is the cost to own a domain, which may have different price range. But what's worse than an exorbitant price is to pay a cheap and unstable server that crashes without a warning. Trust me,those are the ones that you do not want to host on.

So what does Exabytes offer?

Cloud Hosting! First started out in 2001 with Cloud Hosting's launch in 2011,Exabytes is backed by 40 EBiz Cloud Hosting specialists with friendly customer service. They are trusted by over 60,000 active clients worldwide and currently managing over 1000 hosting servers.

You may ask,why exabytes?
 photo _DSC0018_zpsd2e94da3.jpg
Their expertize is certainly one to look out for! You will need someone who can be there any time for you to ask questions, help you in getting your domain set up. Acquiring your own domain should be made simpler with the following:

24x7 email support, helpdesk, live check, phone support, tutorial and knowledge base... How is that not helpful?! All the help you ever need is provided by Exabytes and if all their perks is still not entice you, then I think you would be probably be quite pleased to know that they are offering free domain for 18 months!

With its first performance in 1995,Singapore's Dance Theatre's (SDT) Ballet Under The Stars became an annual affair where many gathered to appreciate the beauty in ballet. Forget your plush velvet seat and stiff suit because here at Fort Canning Park, you get to sit back and relax on a picnic mat while enjoying the performance.

Singapore Dance Theatre is set to wow the audience by featuring a collaboration with Australia’s Expressions Dance Company, headed by artistic director Natalie Weir.

Twenty dancers – six from the Brisbane-based company and 14 from Singapore’s flagship dance company – will premiere Weir’s 4 Seasons, which is set to Vivaldi’s concertos of the same name. Despite having performed her works in the past, this is the first time 46-year-old Natalie Weir has choreographed this 25-minute dance specifically to SDT. Noting the differences between a classical ballet dancer and a contemporary dancer, she set about creating a breathtaking performance within a period of 8 days just earlier this month. Three pieces of dance performance will be choreographed Japanese choreographer Toru Shimazaki, whom will be showcasing Absence Of Story; Carmen Suite by Natalie Weir; as well as Fives by the late local dance doyen Goh Choo San – the first time in more than a decade that the ballet will be performed in its entirety.

Where:
Fort Canning Green
When:
Friday to Sunday, 7.30pm (An Evening Of Contemporary Dance); July 26 to 28, 7.30pm (Giselle)
Admission:
$25, $20 (concession) from Sistic (go to www.sistic.com.sg or call 6348-5555)

Fear that you might not make it for the contemporary dance this weekend? Fret not,for Singapore Dance Theatre will be presenting the iconic classical ballet Giselle next weekend. This contemporary dance however,is still not to be missed for its marvelous performance is bound to take your breath away!

Today,I have decided to head down to Fort Canning Park with fellow ballerinas for An Evening Of Contemporary Dance, featuring Carmen Suite and Absence Of Story.

Being really kiasu like a typical Singaporean,we were there early and started queuing at 4.30pm. We had booked about 50 tickets for everyone while mine was given by the courtesy of Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT).

If you were wondering about the baskets and plastic bag seen in the picture above, well, now you see. We have all brought food along to contribute to this picnic!Everyone you see in this photo is one of us. Almost everyone from Ms Joni's class decided to go for this performance, including the kids from the children's class!

We really could not wait for the performance to begin and started to lay out the food that we brought.

Cheese sausages.

I'm gonna slice the cheese for you.......

Cheese cubes, sausages and egg mayo were brought by Ms Joni and her husband. Super luxurious. The rest of us brought chips, curry chicken (by Jacqueline!),drinks, wine, ice and the food list goes on. I bought peanut butter and bread!

William bought a set of sushi from Sakae sushi and we all happily tucked in. It's a super atas picnic lor,but I'm really enjoying myself while watching the pre-performance performed by NAFA, Nanyang Girls High,Laselle and NUS Synergy dance group.

I am most amazed by the choreography performed by the ballerinas from SDT and Expressions Dance Company. The leaps, twirls and pirouettes constantly swept the ballerinas off their feet by the muscular male ballerinas who seemed lift them up so effortlessly. You don't say,we ourselves watched with mouth agape and marveled at the dance's sophistication. I have never seen a contemporary dance that move so gracefully and at the same time bring out the expression in dance. Perhaps this is the difference between classical ballet dancers and contemporary dancers.

First shot. I love my picnic basket that Blisshouse gave!!!

 photo IMG_7699_zps03079749.jpg
Second shot! Most of the crowd had cleared by then =)
 photo IMG_7700_zps273749e6.jpg
The person who help us took this shot was being cheeky by not telling us that he's already done, continuously taking it until we asked if he's done. Haha, that's so funny! We all fell back laughing. Nice people are around all the time and I'm so thankful to meet such people. I thoroughly enjoyed 4 Seasons and Carmen Suite. I really can't wait to see Giselle's performance next week!

The Phantom of the Opera opening night

One of the world's most successful and popular musical has returned once again to the shores of Singapore for the third time:

The Phantom of the Opera

 photo _DSC0046copy_zps5921f3c7.jpg

More than 130 million people worldwide had seen this phenomenal hit by Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom celebrated its 27th anniversary last year on the West End stage where it continued to play to full houses nightly in London, New York and around the world. Needless to say,the same phenomenon is seen in Singapore where seats were quickly swept up weeks before the opening night and organisers said that they are almost sold out.

With a 130 cast members, crew as well as an orchestra that comprises of mainly Singaporeans, more than 230 costumes, the musical is set to amazed you with its grandiose and splendor. Telling the story of the Phantom's obsession with the budding young singer Christine Daae,he masterminded her success and vie with handsome Raoul for her hand in marriage.

 photo _DSC0227copy_zps131fb07d.jpg
Masquerade scene.
Being a student who used to study literature,I love this scene for its. A scene of celebration just before *spoiler alert* the Phantom arrives. Such a lovely party!

If you caught the one back in 2007,you might be delighted to find that it is the same Phantom who will be performing for this month-long season! Thanks to the overwhelming support from Singapore, they have decided to add 8 more shows. With its extension to the 1st Sept 2013,do get your tickets now! The price range is from from S$55 to S$230, excluding the booking fee of S$3 per ticket. Click here to purchase your tickets.

Whenever I'm in the mood,I would start humming to the songs and often wondered when are they returning to perform. I went to the opening night in 2007(pardon the 14-year-old me with poor command of English) with my first boyfriend and found the whole musical tremendously amazing. I had been treated to a visual feast of colourful costumes, magic tricks and beauty in this musical. This time round,I felt really blessed to invited to watch The Phantom of the Opera once again. Not just an audience, but to also step upon the red carpet and the opportunity to interview the amazing cast members:
 photo IMG_76521_zps0c378c25.jpg
Brad Little as The Phantom.
He exudes a very fatherly aura whilst everyone gathered around him to hear him speak about his experiences during the performances,on and off stage. Raoul and Christine may lack a bit of chemistry onstage but the Phantom is able to make it up with his act. He is one of only four men in the world to have played the most famous character in musical theatre history over 2,000 times! I must say, this time round,The Phantom of the Opera feels grander and more dramatic. The different Christine(s) help keep the experience refreshing for him,he chuckled while saying that.

 photo IMG_76501_zpsb8dd600c.jpg
With the oh-so-beautiful Claire Lyon as Christine Daaé.

 photo IMG_76481_zps05db8dc7.jpg
Anthony Downing as Raoul. He's too handsome,I was literally squealing to take a photo with him. In the interview,I asked him if he would be interested to play the Phantom in future and he said definitely. Someone asked a similar question to Brad,if he could choose to play another character, who would he choose? A bit daft of a question isn't it? Brad laughed and said,no one! Being the Phantom is really the epitome!

Photo taken by Sistic.
I invited Joel,my fellow friend from ballet class whom watched this at Broadway itself. Thank you,Joel! He really made an effort to dress up for the black-tie after party!

Another one of my own:
 photo IMG_76431_zps1aa6c38d.jpg

Throughout different period in my life,I have quoted different quotes from phantom of the opera sound track.
When I'm in love,I love to sing/hum and quote these few phrases:
Think of me, think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while -
please promise me you'll try.

-Think of Me

Say you love me every waking moment,
turn my head with talk of summertime...
Say you need me with you now and always...
Promise me that all you say is true
that's all I ask of you.

Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime...
say the word and I will follow you...

-All I Ask of You

When I was upset,I would hum these few verses:

Wishing you were somehow here again
Wishing you were somehow near
Sometimes it seemed if I just dreamed
Somehow you would be here.

Wishing I could hear your voice again
Knowing that I never would
Dreaming of you won't help me to do
All that you dreamed I could

-Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again

How apt! I absolutely adore The Phantom of the Opera. So much so that I am going to watch it for the second time with my secondary school friends! Don't forget to get your tickets now!

Magnum Singapore Bar Launch at Clarke Quay

Remember this awesome media kit that Magum sent me and how excited I was to attend the Magnum Bar launch held at Clarke Quay? It was wonderful and I had SO MUCH magnum ice cream! It's probably the most number of Magnum ice cream I ever had in one sitting. Phew!

Fah lala~ Looks fun? Of course,I had fun at the Magnum Singapore Bar Launch!

Arriving at Clarke Quay, the whole setup was decked in theme colours of black and pink.

Live moodometer was used to decide whether the crowd like more of the colour black or pink. Live twitter feed can be seen once you tweet with the hashtag #makeitblack or #makeitpink. Heck, any pictures that you post were almost immediately seen by everyone the big screen!

I quickly head for the bar launch sneak preview, joining Jessie and Shu Qing to enjoy the Magnum desserts wonderfully prepare by the chef. Paul Foster was our host for the night and he's very witty! What chef? Well, check this out:

Named after one of Shakespeare's famous works, this dessert 'A Midsummer's Night Dream' is created with edible flowers, assorted fizzy berries, white chocolate sheet and Magnum ice cream. The fusion of sweet ice cream and chocolate with the sour berries is nothing like your kopitiam sweet and sour pork chops. The white chocolate goes exceptionally well and gave a very refreshing taste.

The above two are one of the many desserts that you can expect from the Magnum bar!

Magnum Pink ice cream, with a pearlescent pink crackling coated with chocolate and a tinge of Marc de Champagne within.

Magnum Black would certainly need no further explanation for its colour. What's more interesting is its taste,an intense black espresso coffee coated with their signature thick layer of dark chocolate.

Feeling a little more courageous after a couple of free flow champagnes,I decided that I must show the world how much I enjoyed the Magnum ice cream.

"Oh,dear god."

Here's Shuqing and CK! We finished up our Magnum and went back to the photo booth for more photo taking!

Couldn't resist taking more photos because they too give printouts for everyone in the photo. Heck, that's a huge Magnum chair right there that we must plonk our ass on it!

Jaymee Ong came in a dress with black and pink LED lights! The moodometer will change the colour of the LED lights on her dress, according to the crowd's mood;whether they like it pink or black.

Francesca Rosella, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Cute Circuit, with CEO Ryan Genz had designed the dress specifically for Magnum!

The big shots from Magnum came to officiate the launch and the black veil surrounding the Magnum Bar fell away, revealing a sparkling bar that beckoned us to create our own pleasure bar.

Wait. What?
Click here and see how I created my own Magnum ice cream! Customized to my very own liking. I chose gold flakes and rose petals! Yummy! The mere thought of it makes me salivate. Magnum Singapore Pleasure Store will be roving around Singapore, with the first stop at Clarke Quay Central Fountain from the 27th July – 26th August 2013. Open daily from 12pm to 11pm. Magnum was also exceptionally generous, offering sticks of Magnum ice cream to those around the Clarke Quay fountain.

I definitely had fun there. Thank you Shuqing and Jessie for being such a sport and joining me for this Magnum Bar launch, and thank you

N.E.mation! is a digital animation competition organised by Nexus for youths to express their thoughts on Total Defence. Into its eighth season this year, the competition has proven highly successful, with more than 9,900 students participating since its inception in 2007. With training and guidance, students with no prior experience in animation have been able to produce clips of broadcast quality to screen on free-to-air television. Some of these clips were even selected for international animation festivals and won several awards. It is an opportunity for students to explore and expand their network, developing skills that can help them in life. A very meaningful experience that I feel students should be encouraged to join this competition and broaden their perspective of the world.

Just a quick post here before I continue on with my work. I have been busy lately but rest assured that I will be back soon with more pictures of food. And I appeared in the news,on CNA! They did not mention me specifically but they took a photo of me talking to the minister anyway.

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen (2nd from left), accompanied by Chief of Army Major-General Ravinder Singh, interacting with the employers during the Total Defence Symposium. (Photo: MINDEF)
"SINGAPORE: Ten employers and civil resource owners were recognised on Friday for their contributions to Singapore's Total Defence. The individuals and organisations received awards for exemplary support to National Service.

This was part of this year's Total Defence Symposium, where a dialogue between employers and Senior Minister of State for Defence Chan Chun Sing was also held.

The dialogue focused on how stakeholders can best come together to support National Service.

Mr Chan thanked businesses and acknowledged the challenges they faced in supporting defence efforts.

He said: "Many other countries have tried it and many countries also found that it's not easy. For Singapore today, especially in a time of peace and prosperity, all the more it's difficult to convince people that we need to maintain an operationally-ready force.""- CNA/ac

I was being called up last minute to attend the Total Defence Symposium 2013 at Ritz Carlton. I felt so nervous after knowing my responsibility of tending my booth and being told that I will be speaking to the minister! Sheesh, and here I am in the photo. Haha. I just wanna say that I did not manage to tie my bun properly and it is really,a less flattering side profile that was being taken. Regardless,I am thankful for the opportunity to speak with the minister. The school had given me plenty of opportunities and I look forward to more of such sessions, one more coming up next month! In fact,I will be rather busy for the next two months.

Dress - Bebe
Shoes - Bershka
Bag - Zara
I love my dress! I seldom wear it out but it's very lovely. It was a gift from L as a Christmas present and one of the dresses that I really like. Anyways,my school had organized a trip to Munich and I will be going next month end. The only issue right now is to wait for approval so that we can make payment and I should like to go a day or two earlier,I have made up my mind to rent a car and drive on the famous no-limits highway -- Autobahn!

Till then.

Some time back,I had the opportunity to try out hot pot rice, with thanks to Open Rice for the invitation. I am never a Chinese food person, preferring western and Japanese food over any other cuisine. I have often heard about hot pot but never got around trying it so I thought, why not?

Signature Stone Restaurant
Address : 729 Havelock Road
Tel: 6271 9918

I have been on this road once and it as not too difficult to locate. Just a 10min walk away from Tiong Bahru MRT station,I arrived at this cosy restaurant. It was a cold evening, and I am in desperate need for something to warm me up and to stop my stomach from growling.

 photo _DSC0001_zps43e26e73.jpg
Stone Pot Chicken ($5.30)
Upon the food's arrival, the staff will proceed to drizzle some dark soy sauce to balance the taste and stir the rice. It reminds me of bimbimbap though. This dish is made up of marinated chicken, salted fish, sausage, mushroom and veg. The next dish is however,my favourite.

 photo _DSC0004_zpsb759894c.jpg
Wine Chicken - $8.00
The wine chicken is sooooooo tender! I really love its tenderness and tastefulness. Each bite exudes the taste of the soup - a tinge of spice and rice wine. They say each dish has got their specialty, whether is it the soup or the meat. I can't decide for this one!

 photo _DSC0005_zps53a48da7.jpg
Stone Pork Chicken, Longans and Black Bean Soup (Big - $12.40)
As the name itself suggests, there's chicken, dried longan, black beans and slice licorice. Personally,I feel that this is a little oily for my liking. The chicken was not as tender as the previous one but there is a hint of sweetness in there which people may enjoy.

I love how cosy the place felt. Ariel, the restaurant owner, came out personally to host us and told us how she experimented with different hot pots to bring the taste she thought was good for hot pot lovers. I cannot imagine the amount of patience and effort put into each hot pot, tender loving care I suppose! That evening,I met up with many new bloggers and happy to see Calvin again. It's been so long!

Launch of Corona Mexican Bulldog Cocktail

I steadied my balance while tottering on high heels, trotting along the street that led up to No.5 Emerald Hill cocktail bar. I was invited by Poppy to the Corona Singapore's launch of their new beer:

Corona Mexican Bulldog

No prizes for any guess on the origins of the beer, especially this
 photo img063_zps9b88c1a1.jpg
Jessie came as my plus one. Heck, let's just put on a fake mustache and get in the mood!
 photo _DSC0027_zps07652ef2.jpg
I love the look of the place. Red lamps hung overhead while we were immediately served with a bottle of Corona beer each.
 photo _DSC0026_zps84897a84.jpg
Along with peanuts too! Everyone in the bar is just making small talk while sipping beer while waiting for the launch. Even with the music I can still hear Jessie talk as we did the same and commented about the taste of the beer. More friends arrived and I couldn't be any happier to catch up with them.

 photo img062_zps26a7d4be.jpg
Ohhhh yes. As you might be able to guess from the picture, something exciting is about to happen!

 photo _DSC0044_zps98ebc5a0.jpg
Samba dancers! Along with Mexican drummers, they danced on back and forth in their choreographed steps, hyping up the mood. Everyone watched in glee and some woman,I kid you not, went up and jiggled her shoulders along with the dancers. Haha!

 photo _DSC0042_zpsb5056d28.jpg
Our emcee for the evening. The Samba dancers pushed out a trolley of smoking cold (yo man,it's dry ice) Corona Mexican Bulldog for its official launch.

It looked something like that. My first thought was omg,the margarita is SO gonna spill over when we turn that Corona upside down on it. But no,it slowly sank into the margarita. For some reason,I do enjoy this 'cause of its light and refreshing taste. Got me asking for a second bottle ;) I couldn't be more happy when Fiona sent half a dozen to my house! It's time to organize a house party. Thank you Poppy and Fiona for the invitation, and Jessie for being such a good company!

A Certain Melancholy

Tonight is a cold night,it had been raining for the whole day and flooded a particular area in Singapore, also resulting in the closure of AYE.

There is a certain kind of sadness to this chilly night as I sat here, thinking about life.

I wish I can say that I miss you without being judged by people. Judging me,or judging you. There is a little joy and fulfillment that I will be leaving Singapore in two weeks time,to Germany. So many things that I have planned for and imagined myself enjoying the trip with my friends. But none can be compared to the number of times I tried to imagine how your response would be,just to tell you that I am leaving Singapore.

I admit that I am afraid to know the answer from you. I have this nagging feeling that in the end,I will let myself down by not saying anything at all.

Again,I really do miss you,but it's something that I would have to lock up deep inside my heart so that only I will know and nobody can judge both of us.

Ever wish that one day money will fall out of the sky and land right in your arms? Or that you can win a huge lottery? I do,many a time.

Maybe just buy a yacht after I become a millionaire and suntan all day long.

If I ever become a millionaire,I want a walk-in closet like this.

Ohhhhh. The luxury of having a walk-in closet and having many pairs of shoes! Girls will NEVER stop shopping for shoes. Muahahahaha!!!

But first of all,I will need my own apartment. Not just any apartment. I want a place where I can stay near my workplace, nice environment to send my kids to school in the vicinity and also,I want all the amenities of a condo. Where I can swim on weekends, gym in the evening after work and best of all, security guards. Ooh,men in uniform. Just kidding, but you get the gist. What's not good about staying in a condo? You go downstairs and you see a well-tended garden, clean swimming pool and nice gym equipment to work out. Who knows, you might get to make friends there. *wink*

I do not think that I am the only one who harbours this dream of having my own condo,or best of all, staying in the penthouse! Woohoo! And guess what, based on the Asia’s Biggest Property Sentiment Report by iProperty.com, it reveals that new launches remain the first choice of buyers, topping existing properties 68% to 22%. And most buyers are looking not for a place to live, but for a long-term investment: 51%, up from the previous survey’s 30%. 46% are interested in rental income, and only 40% to own a home. Condos remain a hot option, with 68% interested in private condominiums, 35% in HDB flats and 16% in terrace houses.

The Asia’s Biggest Property Sentiment Report by iProperty.com is a one-of-a-kind survey that enables interested parties to gain better perspectives of the property market, current consumer sentiments and how it will affect future property decisions.

After going through a massive renovation,Suntec just unleashed its new look with a whole lot more brands in its building. Bringing the Brit fashion in town,New Look and Omy invited several bloggers to their sneak preview of the latest Fall/Winter fashion that's about to set the trend for the next couple of months!

We were introduced to the clothes launched for the Fall/Winter season. After being divided into groups of 3,we have 20 minutes to put together an outfit that we think fits best to the theme that we had drawn by chance!

Celine and are my team members! We had Baboushka which focuses on rich colours and sumptuous fabrics. In short, rustic Russian charm. Patterned knits are often favourites for this fashion style, especially during fall. Prints and textures are layered up with accessories to create an opulent look that imitates autumnal colours, luxurious textures and statement jewels.

More than one team was tasked with Baboushka. No prizes for guessing!

Celine looked gorgeous! We went around deciding what kind kind of shirt or dress we should go for. And making sure that we don't clash the top and bottom pieces. With so many different prints for this Fall/Winter season,we were simply spoilt for choice and used up the entire 20 minutes given!

Frankfurt Day 1

I was really excited as the date of my departure approaches. I had been dreaming about this day a long time ago and finally,I am flying off to Germany! And so,I flew of on 19th September,an overnight flight with Lufthansa. I made it a point to try different airlines on each trip so that I would get to experience different airline's service,be it good or bad.

After days of googling,I finally made my booking on sixt.com for the car and several cancellations bookings of hotels. I even tried to learn a few German phrases! Which was kinda redundant because firstly, the younger generation can speak English pretty well and secondly,we wouldn't have been able to understand much from the answers given. If there's anything you should learn in German, try out the food menu first. They are often in German with no english descriptions. Anyways,I shall not be a drag and post the first photo:

TADAH! The baby that I will be driving for the next two days. We wanted to rent a cabriolet so that we can enjoy the wind with the hood down. Unfortunately, only luxury cars have that function but they have minimum age and experience requirement. If you wonder why isn't there any airline food photos that I will normally take,my forgetfulness cost me 15 euros to get another memory card. Argh! Regardless,I arrived safe and sound.

My travel partner. She's such a fantastic travel mate! It's been a joy to spend 2 weeks in Germany with her, doing things together. And which you will see more photos of her coming up in the later posts.

The driver's seat is on the left side but it does not bother me much because I don't really drive in Singapore. The only trouble was that Justina and I kept walking to the wrong side of the car,but we quickly adjusted to it. Hehe! One more thing to note is to have a manual license. Not only automatic cars costs more but also, only the higher-end cars like the luxurious sedans and SUV have the automatic function. Had a mini panic attack when Justina asked me if I had driven on the highway before, which I hadn't. Thankfully it wasn't too difficult to get onto the Autobahn, but the cars are really fast over there and they expect you to be as well.

Looking down from the fortress at the town of  Würzburg.
We drove to Würzburg and visited the Marienberg Fortress (German: Festung Marienberg).

Standing outside before walking into the fortress. The air was cooling, not too cold. So I'm dressed in shorts with stockings and a long sleeved shirt bought from Japan last year.

It's a beauty. Can see that fall is approaching really soon. The trees are really green!

The fortress outside has thick, high walls, surrounded by steep hillsides of vineyards.

The fortress was said to date back to the 13th century and became the residence for prince-bishops of Wurzburg in 1253.

Visitors are not allowed inside but it was absolutely beautiful. Built in AD 704 and replaces a former Celtic shelter.

Here's a piece of interesting history:
Between 1626 and 1631,some of the largest peacetime mass trials (witch trials) in history with between 600 and 900 ”witches” were held here in Würzburg.

Golden Illuminations.

A well that provides water to the fortress in the past sits in the main castle courtyard. Believe it or not,it is over 90 metres deep! We then proceed to have lunch at the castle itself, with a superb view that overlook the town.

Justina had been really eager to try out their wurst aka sausages. Delicious! Which is what the Germans are famous for.

A pic before we drove back to Frankfurt.

We got a huge room! At Hotel Isabella Frankfurt, located out of town. But thankfully, there was a shopping mall and a bar next to the hotel. Locating a few streets away from the Autobahn highway allowed easy access to other places.
